Friend

The blobby friend sitting on my desk. The dim lighting allows you to see his glowing eyes.

What Is It?

I bought a few charging bricks from the thrift store to extract the transformer coils from within. After taking the coil out of the smallest one, I noticed that the holes where the plug’s blades normally stick through looked like a simple face. If you’ve played Fall Guys, it reminded me of that.

The Crafts Side

Opening up the adapter was a huge pain. A lot of time was spent attacking it with a hammer and box cutter before the seam finally gave way. The case doesn’t stay closed particularly well, but that’s not a huge concern. I just wanted to bring a dumb little idea I had to life on a Saturday night.

The Technology Side

I used a 9 V battery to power the two series LEDs. The 9 V serendipitously fit perfectly in the back of the case. To secure the LEDs and the respective current limiting resistor, I ended up just coating them in a thick layer of hot glue. The project was a spur of the moment thing, so taking another day to engineer a perfect solution wouldn’t make sense.
