SOIC Pendant

What Is It?
When I accidentally fried the first SMD chip that I’d ever soldered, it felt wrong to just throw it out. I’m a very sentimental person. I decided to make it into a pendant with a unique flair.
The Crafts Side
The chip is a small SMD part, so its legs are not meant to provide much structural integrity when soldered normally. That’s why I ended up drowning the pins in solder to ensure that it wouldn’t come apart. I ended up using three brass supports that fit in between the four pins on each side of the chip.
I also made sure to keep the chip right side up, despite that distinction being meaningless for a non-functional chip. If you look closely, you can see the small dot on the top left side that indicates pin 1.
